This book introduced me to one of my most favorite tools: the black Stabilo All pencil.  It comes in other colors too.

Using this water-soluble pencil and instructions from her “Drawing Faces” chapter, I created this:

A Great Resource

Just received the most recent edition of my favorite magazine “Art Journaling”.  It is a great resource for ideas and inspiration.  The featured cover artist is Dina Wakley.  I was lucky enough to take a basic face drawing and painting class with her.  You can find her online class version here.  She is a super fun and funny teacher.  I own all of her books.  She also has a product line through Ranger Inc.  If you ever get a chance, I highly recommend you take one of her classes.  Here’s just one of the tips she gave us: practice drawing faces by outlining them in a magazine using a Sharpie fine point.

It’s fun and it really does help improve your drawing skills.
